- Abstract
According to the IDEAM land cover classification (2012), the UCRB has 40 different land covers or uses. Within them, 12 represent 90% of the total. The first is the mosaic of crops, pastures and natural spaces, which has 410,000 ha, and represents 21% of the basin area. It is located mainly in the flat area and in the foothills of the department of Cauca. The second most representative use is clean pastures, which represent livestock activity. In the case of the UCRB, they reach 307 thousand hectares (15% of the basin area), located mainly in the department of Cauca and Valle del Cauca. The third most representative land use is the mosaic of pastures and natural spaces, which reflects a transition from natural spaces to livestock activity; it amounts to 193 thousand hectares and represents 10% of the basin area.
